# Folia

> Per-subsystem Folia support: verified, untested, and known limitations.

LodeEntities runs on [Folia](https://papermc.io/software/folia). Folia splits the world into independently ticked **regions**, and a region's thread may only touch the entities and blocks that belong to it, so "works on Paper" never implies "works on Folia". This page says exactly which parts have been checked.

**Last verified against Folia 26.1.2 (build 8).**

## Verified on a real Folia server

* Startup and plugin enable
* Loading `Mobs/` and `Dialogs/`
* `/le reload`, including resource-pack generation
* `/le debug` and load diagnostics
* Spawning mobs with their configured stats (`/le spawn`, `summon`, the API)
* Effect triggers, `delay` and `repeat`/`pulse`
* The [MythicMobs importer](https://entities.lodemc.net/mythicmobs.md)

## Expected to work, not yet verified

These need a connected game client to drive, and haven't been tested end to end on Folia yet:

* Model rendering and animation
* `/le gui`, `/le disguise`, `/le play`
* [Dialogs](https://entities.lodemc.net/dialogs.md)
* NPC head turning (`look: true`)

They're expected to work; this list exists so you know exactly what has and hasn't been proven.

## Known Folia-only limitations

* **World-wide targeters are only safe with text.** `@playersInWorld` (`@world`), `@playersOnServer` and `@livingInWorld` reach entities in other regions. Sending them messages, titles and sounds is fine; damaging, moving or applying potions to them reaches across regions and may fail. Prefer the radius targeters, which only ever see the caster's own region.
* **`/le hide` and `/le show` walk the whole online player list**, which reaches across regions and is untested under load.
* **`/le killall` without a radius** only sweeps what the command's own region can see, and says which worlds it could not read. With `[radius=…]` in game it is exact.

If you hit a Folia-specific problem, the console stack trace usually names the thread rule that was broken (`ensureGlobalTickThread`, `RegionizedWorldData`, "Cannot modify … off global region"). Those are worth reporting verbatim.
