# Line Options

> Options every mechanic takes (delay, repeat, cooldown, chance, power, origin) and the inline parts of a line.

Every mechanic takes its own options in braces, and **also** these shared ones. They work the same on every line, so they are listed once here.

```yaml theme={null}
- damage{a=4;repeat=4;repeatInterval=10} @trigger          # five hits, half a second apart
- summon{type=crypt_minion;cooldown=30} +onHurt @self      # at most once every 30 seconds
- lightning{chance=0.2} +onAttack @trigger                 # one hit in five
```

## Shared options

| Option | Also | What it does |
| :- | :- | :- |
| `delay` | | Waits this long before **this line** runs. The rest of the skill carries on; to pause the rest, use a [`delay` line](mechanics-flow). |
| `repeat` | | Runs the line this many **extra** times. |
| `repeatInterval` | `repeatI` | Ticks between repeats. |
| `cooldown` | `cd` | Seconds before this line can run again for the same caster. `40t` or `2s` say their unit. |
| `chance` | | Chance the line runs at all, `0`–`1`. |
| `power` | | Multiplies the skill's power, which scales mechanics that read it (damage, healing, …). |
| `powerSplit` | `splitPower` | Divides the power between the targets. |
| `targetInterval` | `targetI` | Ticks between each target, so a line works through a crowd one at a time. |
| `origin` | | Treat another targeter as the skill's origin: `origin=@trigger`. |
| `targetIsOrigin` | `sourceIsOrigin` | Each target becomes the origin for that run. |
| `fromOrigin` | `fo` | Cast from the origin instead of from the caster. |

When a mechanic has an option of the same name, the mechanic's meaning wins: `explosion{power=4}` is the blast size, not a power multiplier.

## Inline conditions

A line can carry its own [conditions](https://entities.lodemc.net/conditions.md) after the targeter, each starting with `?`:

```yaml theme={null}
- damage{a=8} @trigger +onHurt ?isNight                 # only at night (asks the caster)
- narrate "Coward!" +onHurt @trigger ?~isPlayer         # only when a player did it (asks the trigger)
- heal{a=10} +onHurt ?!burning                          # only when the caster is NOT on fire
- skill{s=enrage} +onHurt ?health{h=<50%}               # conditions take options as usual
```

| Prefix | Asks about | Passes when |
| :- | :- | :- |
| `?` | the caster | it holds |
| `?!` | the caster | it doesn't |
| `?~` | the trigger entity | it holds |
| `?~!` | the trigger entity | it doesn't |

Several `?` parts must all pass. Each part is one token, so don't put spaces inside it.

## Health modifiers

A health range after the targeter runs the line only while the **caster's** health is in it. With `%` it is a share of max health; without, it is health points:

```yaml theme={null}
- skill{s=phase_two} +onHurt <50%                # below half health
- skill{s=last_stand} +onHurt <20%
- particlering{p=flame} +onTimer:20 =30%-50%      # between 30% and 50%
- heal{a=5} +onTimer:40 >75%                      # above three quarters
```

The forms are `<N`, `>N`, `=N` and `=A-B`.

## A trailing chance

A bare number at the end of a line is a chance, MythicMobs-style. These two lines mean the same:

```yaml theme={null}
- lightning +onAttack @trigger 0.25
- lightning{chance=0.25} +onAttack @trigger
```

## Everything at once

A MythicMobs line with all its parts loads as written:

```yaml theme={null}
- damage{a=5;ia=true} @PIR{r=10;limit=3} ~onAttack ?health{h=>10} <50% 0.5
```

Read it as: deal 5 damage ignoring armor, to up to 3 players within 10 blocks, when the mob attacks, if it has more than 10 health, while it is below half health, half of the time.
